, in a gorgeous building over-
looking the bay, has old-style comfort and hospitality in a lovely setting. The welcoming
owners have been doing this for two decades so they know a bit about guests' comfort.
The rooms are traditionally styled and a good size. The separate 'coach house' twin is a
lovely space. Best is the spectacular walled garden, a gloriously peaceful haven; the palm
trees are proof of the Gulf Stream's good works. Cards aren't taken.
KYLESKU & LOCH GLENCOUL
Hidden from the main road on the shores of Loch Glencoul, the hamlet of Kylesku served
as a ferry crossing on the route north from the beginning of the 19th century until it was
made redundant by the beautiful
Kylesku Bridge
in 1984. There isn't much at Kylesku -
just a few houses and a pub - but it's a good base for walks.
Sights & Activities
Eas a'Chuil Aluinn
Five miles southeast of Kylesku, in wild and remote country beyond the head of Loch
Glencoul, lies the 213m-high Eas a'Chuil Aluinn, Britain's highest waterfall. You can
hike to the top of the falls from a parking area at a sharp bend in the main road 3 miles
south of Kylesku (6 miles round trip, allow five hours).
