The name means 'house of the heather' in Gaelic, and Heather is the name of the
owner - an alternative therapist who offers kinesiology and Indian head massages as well
as three bright, clean and comfortable bedrooms, and a breakfast menu that includes (res-
ident anglers' luck permitting) freshly caught trout as well as the usual bacon and eggs.

Well-
run and comfortable, with a spacious kitchen, dining area and lounge, this is a real haven
for walkers or anyone passing through Crianlarich. Dorms vary in size - there are some
great en suite family rooms that should be prebooked - but all are clean and roomy.

This charismatic place, 3 miles from Cri-
anlarich and 2 miles from Tyndrum, is off the A82 and has 16 heated 'wigwams' - essen-
tially wooden A-frame cabins with fridge and foam mattresses that can sleep four at a
pinch. More upmarket are the self-contained lodges with their own bathroom and kitchen
facilities. There's also camping with access to all facilities.

At the junction in
the middle of the village, this hotel has large rooms with appealingly comfortable beds
and compact bathrooms - but we feel that they spent more on the reception area than the
accommodation. It's good value in the low season. The bar meals (mains £10 to £13) are
pricey, but served in a most elegant space, with haggis, venison and salmon available.
