Around Stirling
BRIDGE OF ALLAN
POP 5046
This upbeat former spa town, just 3 miles north of Stirling, has an open street plan, giving
it a laid-back sense of space. It's a good alternative to staying in Stirling.

have a dark and fuzzy decor that makes you want to get naked and have a good roll
around. All rooms have car-wash showers, but only some come with a bath. The rooms
are different sizes, so ask to see a selection. Ask about weekend specials, too, and even if
you're not staying, drop in for lunch or dinner.

'sexy food', this little show pony also has a deli next door selling fresh local produce. The
cafe has a very trendy vibe and seems to be the centre of the town's universe. Scrumptious
treats drawing from several world cuisines won't break your budget.

Getting There & Away
You can walk to Bridge of Allan from Stirling in an hour. Frequent local buses from Stirl-
ing stop in Henderson St. Trains to Dunblane, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh depart fre-
quently from the station at the western end of Henderson St.
DUNBLANE
POP 7911
Dunblane, 5 miles northwest of Stirling, is a pretty town with a notable cathedral. It's dif-
ficult not to remember the horrific massacre that took place in the primary school in 1996,
but happier headlines have come the town's way more recently with the rise of local ten-
nis star Andy Murray.
