The island's best hotel, the Kilmichael is also the oldest building - it has a
glass window dating from 1650. Luxurious and tastefully decorated, the hotel is located
only a mile outside Brodick but seems like a world away in deep countryside. It has just
eight rooms and excellent set dinners (open to nonguests). It's an ideal, utterly relaxing
hideaway, and feels very classy without being overly formal.

Opposite the
ferry, this hotel has been reborn as a smart, stylish, haven of island hospitality. The views
were already there, but the luxurious rooms make the most of them. There are numerous
thoughtful touches like binoculars to admire the vistas, and the bathrooms are great. The
downstairs bar and bistro are also recommended. Prices drop midweek and in winter.

Uplifting bay views and genuine, helpful hosts make this a cracking option.
Airy, stylish rooms make the most of the natural light available at the top of the town.
Cyclists will appreciate the bike wash, repair and storage facilities, while hikers can bene-
fit from the drying rooms and expert trail advice. The owners make big efforts to be sus-
tainable.

looking the town, bay and surrounding mountains, Belvedere has well-presented rooms
and very welcoming hosts, who also offer reiki, healing and de-stressing packages. They
provide excellent island information and there are good breakfasts with vegetarian
choices.

A little tough to find (ask for directions), this unsigned place is run by a genial, welcom-
ing couple who make you feel right at home. There are just two rooms, both very comfort-
able; the larger one is en-suite and has great views over the bay.
