Scottish Citylink ( 0871-266 3333; www.citylink.co.uk ) has buses to most major
towns in Scotland, including the following:
Edinburgh (£6.80, 1¼ hours, every 15 minutes)
Stirling (£7.30, 45 minutes, at least hourly)
Perth (£11.20, 1½ hours, hourly)
Inverness (£27.50, 3½ hours, eight daily)
Aberdeen (£28.80, 2½ to three hours, hourly)
Oban (£17.50, three hours, four direct daily)
Fort William (£22, three hours, seven daily)
Portree, Isle of Skye (£39.40, 6¼ to seven hours, three daily)
Cairnryan/Stranraer (£17.50, 2½ hours, three daily connecting with Belfast ferry).
Some of the longer-distance services are designated Gold, with onboard services and
amenities.
As well as Megabus, National Express ( 08717 81 81 81; www.nationalexpress.com )
and Greyhound ( 0900 096 0000; www.greyhounduk.com ) also run to London (£23 to
£36, eight hours). Most of these services are overnight. The 10.30pm National Express
service stops at Heathrow. It's often cheaper to buy in advance online.
National Express also runs daily to several English cities. Check Megabus and the Na-
tional Express website for heavily discounted fares on these routes.
Car & Motorcyle
There are numerous car-rental companies; the big names have offices at Glasgow and
Prestwick airports. Companies include the following:

Train
As a general rule, Glasgow Central station serves southern Scotland, England and
Wales, and Queen St station serves the north and east. Buses run between the two sta-
tions every 10 minutes. There are direct trains to London's Euston station; they're much
