( www.moskitoglasgow.com ; 200 Bath St) A stylish Bath St basement bar, Moskito is just
the place to kick back in the booth seating, play pool and let the in-house DJs mellow you
out with their deep beats and electronica.
Waxy O'Connors
Offline map Google map
( www.waxyoconnors.co.uk ; 46 West George St) This lager labyrinth with its fantasy-realm
elven treehouse feel could be an Escher sketch brought to life, and it's a cut above most
Irish theme pubs.
PUB
West End
Hillhead Bookclub
( www.hillheadbookclub.com ; 17 Vinicombe St) Atmosphere in spades is the call sign of
this easygoing West End bar. An ornate wooden ceiling overlooks two levels of well-
mixed cocktails, seriously cheap drinks, comfort food and numerous intriguing decorative
touches. There's even a pingpong table in a cage.

Òran Mór

( www.oran-mor.co.uk ; 731 Great Western Rd) Now some may be a little uncomfortable
with the thought of drinking in a church. But we say: the Lord giveth. Praise be and let's
give thanks - a converted church, and an almighty one at that, is now a bar, restaurant and
club venue. The bar feels like it's been here for years - all wood and thick, exposed stone
giving it warmth and a celestial air. There's an excellent array of whiskies. The only thing
missing is holy water on your way in.
BAR
Brel
Offline map Google map
( www.brelbarrestaurant.com ; 39 Ashton Lane) Perhaps the best on Ashton Lane, this bar
can seem tightly packed, but there's a conservatory out the back so you can pretend you're
sitting outside when it's raining, and when the sun does peek through there's a beer
garden. They've got a huge range of Belgian beers, and they also do mussels and other
Lowlands favourites.
