17-event jamboree that will involve athletes from some 70 countries. Events will be held in various locations, in-
cluding Hampden Park, the SECC, and both the Celtic and Rangers football stadiums. Expect some improvements
to the public transport system; equally, expect some disruptions to services in the lead-up to the event.
Sleeping
The city centre gets very rowdy at weekends, and accommodation options fill up fast,
mostly with groups who will probably roll home boisterously some time after 3am. If you
prefer an earlier appointment with your bed, you'll be better off in a smaller, quieter
lodging, or in the West End. Booking ahead is essential at weekends and in July and
August.
