GLASGOW FOR CHILDREN
Although Glasgow is a bigger, busier city than Edinburgh, it's an easy city to traverse with children due to its ex-
tensive public transport system and friendly locals. The city boasts excellent family attractions, including the
Glasgow Science Centre ( Click here ) and Sharmanka Kinetic Gallery & Theatre ( Click here ) , which both
vie for the title of Glasgow's top child-friendly attraction. The Riverside Museum ( Click here ) and the People's
Palace ( Click here ) are also recommended.
For suggestions for short-term child-care agencies, get in touch with the council-run Glasgow Childcare In-
formation Service ( 0141-287 5223; chis@education.glasgow.gov.uk; 100 Morrison St). The KidsGlasgow
( www.kidsglasgow.com ) website lists upcoming events for children, as well as soft play areas and other recom-
mendations.
Most parks in Glasgow have playgrounds for children. In the centre of town, the major shopping complexes
like Buchanan Galleries ( Click here ) and St Enochs are handy stops, with baby-changing facilities and shops
and activities designed to keep the kids occupied for an hour or two.
