FIGURE 13.1 The dependence of PASF films structure fractal dimension d f on solubility
parameters d of solvent, from which a film was prepared [1].
The polymer solubility parameter d p value can be determined by its cohe-
sion energy density W c as follows [10]:
d =
W
1/ 2
p
(13.1)
For PASF W c = 385 MJ/m 3 [10], from which d p for this polymer is
equal to 9.61 (cal/cm 3 ) 1/2 . As it follows from the plot d f (d), adduced in Fig.
13.1, the d f sharp increase occurs at difference absolute value df p −d| = |Dd|
growth and the least d f value is reached at the condition d p = d (|Dd| = 0) [1].
This allows to obtain the following relationship for considered films value
d f estimation [1]:
d f = 2.542 + 0.128|Dd|.
(13.2)
I n Fig. 13.2 , the comparison of experimental (i.e., calculated according
to the Eqs. (1.9) and (2.20)) and calculated according to the Eq. (13.2) values
of polymer films structure fractal dimension is adduced.
