Digital cameras, memory sticks and batteries are sold prolifically in cities and urban centres. Try electronics stores
(Dick Smith, Tandy) or the larger department stores. Many internet cafes, camera stores and large stationers (Office-
works, Harvey Norman) have printing and CD-burning facilities. Cheap, disposable underwater cameras are available at
most beach towns.

As in any country, politeness goes a long way when taking photographs; ask before taking pictures of people. For
Indigenous Australians, photography can be highly intrusive: photographing cultural places, practices and images, sites
of significance and ceremonies may also be a sensitive matter. Always ask first.
