October brings the tail end of the dry season in the north, with temperatures on the
rise. Warmer weather blankets the south though beach days remain few and nights
remain cool.
Coolangatta Gold
The epic Coolangatta Gold is a test of surf-lifesaving endurance that includes a 23km surf-
ski paddle, a 3.5km swim and various beach runs - adding up to 41.5km in all. The event is
open to the public, so anyone can enter (see the 1984 movie of the same name for inspira-
