Eating
For a town its size, Port Douglas has some incredibly sophisticated dining options. Ad-
vance reservations are recommended and essential for really popular places. For self-cater-
ing, there's a large Coles (11 Macrossan St) supermarket in the Port Village shopping centre.

eggplant (with grilled and roast veggies, goat's cheese and wild rocket) off the menu. But
it's the setting that makes it really worth heading to the southern end of Four Mile: a
lantern-lit garden with sand underfoot. Good fish, sirloins and blackboard specials, too.

Salsa is a stayer on Port's fickle scene. Try the Creole jambalaya (rice with prawns, squid,
crocodile and smoked chicken) or the roo with tamarillo marmalade. Also has outstanding
cocktails.
