Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
The airport is about 7km north of central Cairns; many accommodation places offer cour-
tesy pick-ups. Sun Palm ( Click here ) meets all incoming flights and runs a shuttle bus
(adult/child $12/6) to the CBD. You can also book airport transfers with them to/from
Cairns' northern beaches ($20), Palm Cove ($20) and Port Douglas ($40). A trip to the
CBD with Black & White Taxis (

BUS
Sunbus ( 07-4057 7411; www.sunbus.com.au ) runs regular services in and around Cairns from the
Lake Street Transit Centre, where schedules are posted. Useful routes include: Flecker
Botanic Gardens/Edge Hill (bus 131), Holloways Beach and Yorkeys Knob (buses 112,
113, 120), and Trinity Beach, Clifton Beach and Palm Cove (buses 110, 111). Most buses
heading north go via Smithfield. All are served by the late-running night service (N).
Heading south, Bus 140 runs as far south as Gordonvale. Single tickets from $2.30.
TAXI
Black & White Taxis ( Click here ) have a rank near the corner of Lake and Shields Sts, and
one outside Cairns Central Shopping Centre.
