vice, books accommodation and tours and houses an interpretive centre.

Getting There & Away
AIR
QANTAS ( 13 13 13; www.qantas.com.au ) , Virgin Australia ( 13 67 89; www.virginaustralia.com ) and Jet-
star ( 13 15 38; www.jetstar.com.au ) arrive and depart the Cairns Airport ( www.cairnsairport.com ) with
flights to/from all Aussie capital cities and large regional centres. There are international
flights to/from places including China, Papua New Guinea and New Zealand.
Skytrans ( 1300 759 872; www.skytrans.com.au ) services Cape York with regular flights to
Coen, Bamaga and Lockhart River, as well as Burketown and Normanton in the Gulf and
Mount Isa.
Hinterland Aviation ( 07-4040 1333; www.hinterlandaviation.com.au ) has one to four flights daily
to/from Cooktown (one-way from $125, 40 minutes).
BUS
Cairns is the hub for Far North Queensland buses.
Greyhound Australia ( 1300 473 946; www.greyhound.com.au ) Has four daily services down the
coast to Brisbane (from $300, 29 hours) via Townsville ($60, six hours), Airlie Beach
($93, 11 hours) and Rockhampton ($195, 18 hours). Departs from Reef Fleet Terminal, at
the southern end of The Esplanade.
