Daydream Island
Daydream Island, just over 1km long and 200m wide, would live up to its name a bit more
if it wasn't quite so busy; one could be forgiven for mistaking it for a floating theme park.
The closest resort to the mainland, it's a very popular day-trip destination suitable for
everybody, especially busy families, swinging singles and couples looking for a romantic
island wedding.
The large

is surrounded by beautifully landscaped tropical gardens, with a stingray-, shark-
and fish-filled lagoon running through it. It has tennis courts, a gym, catamarans, wind-
surfers, three swimming pools and an open-air cinema all included in the tariff. There are
five grades of accommodation and most package deals include a buffet breakfast. There's
also a club with constant activities to keep children occupied, and they'll love the
stingray
splash
($38) and fish-feeding sessions. The resort occupies the entire island, so it's not the
place to head if you're seeking isolation.
Cruise Whitsundays

Daydream Island to Abel Point Marina and Shute Harbour with frequent daily services.
