from the frenzy of town. Mega-clean, outstanding value, helpful staff and regular wildlife
visits make this one of Airlie's best options. Long-term rates also available.

( 07-4999 6600; www.nomadsairliebeach.com ; 354 Shute Harbour Rd; dm/d $23/88; ) Set on a
3-hectare leafy lot with volleyball and a pool, Nomads feels a bit more 'resorty' than
many of the other hostels in town. Accommodation is nothing special, though tent sites
are nice and shady, and private rooms have TV, fridge and kitchenette.
Seabreeze Tourist Park
( 07-4946 6379; www.theseabreezepark.com.au ; 234 Shute Harbour Rd; camp site $14, caravan site from $30, cab-
in/villa from $90/130; ) Grassy and sprawling with fresh ocean views and a
nice kicked-back feel. Camp sites are shady, while the new timber Bali Villas offer an
exoticism most caravan parks are decidedly lacking.

( 07-4946 6244; www.beaches.com.au ; 356 Shute Harbour Rd; dm/d $22/70; ) You must at
least enjoy a drink at the big open-air bar, even if you're not staying here. If you do
choose to hang your hat, bring earplugs and your biggest party boots. Not one for the
serenity set.

Backpackers by the Bay
( 07-4946 7267; www.backpackersbythebay.com ; 12 Hermitage Dr; dm/d & tw $25/68; ) A low-key
alternative to the seething party-hostel cluster downtown, with tidy rooms, hammocks, a
good pool and a distinct lack of skull-clanging tunes and whoops. It's about a 10-minute
walk from Airlie's centre.
