Getting There & Away
AIR
Qantas ( 13 13 13; www.qantas.com.au ) and Virgin ( 13 67 89; www.virginaustralia.com ) operate flights
to and from Gladstone Airport, which is 7km from the city centre.
BOAT
Curtis Ferry Services ( 07-4972 6990; www.curtisferryservices.com.au ; return adult/child/family $30/22/from
$84) has regular services to Curtis Island five days per week. The service leaves from the
Gladstone marina and stops at Farmers Point on Facing Island en route. Transport to other
nearby islands can be arranged on request.
You can also access the islands with various charter operators.
If you've booked a stay on Heron Island, the resort operates a launch (one way adult/
child $50/25, two hours), which leaves the Gladstone marina at 11am daily.
BUS
Greyhound Australia ( 1300 473 946; www.greyhound.com.au ) has several coach services from Bris-
bane ($143, 10 hours), Bundaberg ($44, 3 hours) and Rockhampton ($21, 1½ hours). The
terminal is at the BP service station on the Dawson Hwy, about 200m southwest of the
centre.
TRAIN
Queensland Rail ( 07-3235 1122, 1800 872 467; www.queenslandrail.com.au ) has frequent north- and
southbound services passing through Gladstone daily. The Tilt Train stops in Gladstone
from Brisbane ($119, 5 hours) and Rockhampton ($39, one hour).
