Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve
( www.mary-cairncross.com.au ; 148 Mountain View Rd) Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is a lovely
rainforest shelter spread over 55 hectares just out of town. Walking tracks snake through
the rainforest and there's a healthy population of bird life and unbearably cute pademel-
ons.

tours that take in the milking pit, a handmilking demonstration, factory gawk and baby-

WOODSTOCK DOWN UNDER
The famous Woodford Folk Festival ( www.woodfordfolkfestival.com ) features a huge diversity of over 2000
national and international performers playing folk, traditional Irish, Indigenous and world music, as well as busk-
ers, belly dancers, craft markets, visual-arts performances, environmental talks and Tibetan monks. The festival is
held on a property near the town of Woodford from 27 December to 1 January each year. Camping grounds are
set up onsite with toilets, showers and a range of foodie marquees, but prepare for a mud bath if it rains. The fest-
ival is licensed so leave your booze at home. Tickets cost around $133 per day ($163 with camping) and can be
bought online, at the gate or the festival office ( 07-5496 1066). Check online for updated programs.
Woodford is 35km northwest of Caboolture. Shuttle buses run regularly from the Caboolture train station to
and from the festival grounds.
