You could bottle the friendly vibes in this sociable old Queenslander and make a
mint. The building is looking a bit tired, but the communal areas are homey and the
garden is a mini-oasis.

Just across the road from the beach and backed by high-rise apart-
ments, this caravan park is a family favourite. It's a tight fit between sites, but the facilit-
ies are decent.

'Resort' is a bit of a stretch, and disregard the busy road: inside this facelifted,
three-storey place you'll find motel-style units with well-equipped kitchens and a fab
pool.

A glitzy post-modern Roman apparition, the Palazzo Versace is pure extravagance,
from the opulent rooms to the indulgent restaurants and bars. Everything, from the pool
furniture to the bell-hops' belt buckles, is infused with over-the-top Versace glam. Staff
are surprisingly un-snooty.
