Getting There & Away
AIR
Gold Coast Airport ( www.goldcoastairport.com.au ) is in Coolangatta, 25km south of Surfers Paradise.
All the main Australian domestic airlines fly here, plus Scoot ( www.flyscoot.com ) , Air Asia
( www.airasia.com ) and Air New Zealand ( www.airnewzealand.com ) flying in from overseas.
BUS
Greyhound ( www.greyhound.com.au ) and Premier Motor Service ( www.premierms.com.au ) run frequent daily
services between Brisbane and the Gold Coast ($20, 1½ hours).
CAR & MOTORCYCLE
If you're driving, the Gold Coast is an easy one-hour hop south of Brisbane. Driving north,
you'll cross the NSW/Queensland border at Tweed Heads: Coolangatta (the southern-most
Gold Coast town) is immediately across the border.
TRAIN
Citytrain services run by TransLink ( Click here ) connect Brisbane with Nerang, Robina
and Varsity Lakes stations on the Gold Coast ($20.90, 75 minutes) roughly every half-hour.
The same line extends north of Brisbane to Brisbane Airport (one-way Brisbane Airport to
Varsity Lakes costs $36.10 and takes 1¾ hours).
Getting Around
TO/FROM THE AIRPORT
Gold Coast Tourist Shuttle ( 07-5574 5111, 1300 655 655; www.gcshuttle.com.au ; one-way per adult/child $20/12)
will meet your flight and drop you at most Gold Coast accommodation; book in advance.
