colic bushland setting outside of Stanthorpe, Diamondvale is a friendly place with four
private cottages (two one-bedroom and two two-bedroom), each with old-fashioned de-
tails, a wood-burning fireplace, kitchen and verandah. The communal barbecue hut is a
winner, and you can walk along the creek 2km into town (or jump in for a swim).

This super-clean, well-managed and good-value option (pardon the plastic roses and
chintzy cushions) is set on 7 bushy hectares on the outskirts of Stanthorpe. Choose
between one of a row of motel rooms or a fully self-contained cottage with a fireplace or
gas heating. Except for the local bird life, it's very quiet.

There's a
string of passable motels along Wallangarra Rd on the south side of Stanthorpe, but this
one is a bit closer to the town centre. It's a two-storey affair set back from the street: the
best rooms have been given a 2000s facelift, but some are still a bit '90s and bricky.

These two cottages on the eastern outskirts of Stanthorpe are small in size and perhaps
too chintzy for some, but they're decent value and a two-minute drive into town. Both the
two-bedroom front cottage and the one-bedroom back cottage have log fires, feather doo-
nas and stacks of charm.
