Brisbane's West End
Divided by the meandering Brisbane River, Brisbane is a tight-knit web of distinct neigh-
bourhoods: our favourite is the bohemian West End, where you'll find bookshops, bars,
live music rooms and myriad cheap eats.
Cafes & Bars
Brisbane is hot! But that doesn't mean the locals don't enjoy a steaming cup of java. Cool
cafes abound, plus a clutch of quality bean roasters. Brisbane has also joined the Australia-
wide boom in small bars, found down laneways and in compact shopfronts.
Moreton Bay Islands
In Moreton Bay you'll find the underrated North Stradbroke Island, with excellent surfing,
sea-kayaking and beach walks, and Moreton Island, which has a full-kit resort and loads of
activities. You can also visit the former prison island of St Helena.
