the nc and pc slots of the adjectives - and not via the mdr and mdd slots, as
in the gapping construction 9.6.5.

In summary, the content corresponding to gapping is an intrapropositional
functor-argument, but the surface has a grammatical similarity of function and
a superficial resemblance of form with coordination. On the one hand, these
particular examples of a discrepancy 16 between a content and the grammatical
surface structure may be found in many natural languages, with strong native
speaker intuition. On the other hand, empirical investigations of the BNC and
the LIMAS corpus have shown that the different gapping constructions are
rarely used, at least in English and in German.
