In-Depth Information
The search space reduction provided by a definition like 8.5.2 works as fol-
lows: as soon as a first item in the raw data has been recognized by a cer-
tain concept, e.g., book , the total set of concepts and relations available to be
matched onto the next raw data item is reduced to the set of those related to
book in any way in the agent's Word Bank, beginning with the most frequent
ones (cf. L&I'05). Like intersection (Sect. 5.4), this process converges quickly.
Thus, corpus linguistics may complement the work on an artificial agent (cf.
Liu 2009a) even before robotic external interfaces are available. Using concept
names as placeholders (6.6.8), the selectional constellations illustrated in 8.5.2
as well as the frequency values may be obtained from any given corpus.
The methods include word form recognition for (i) lemmatization , i.e., re-
duction to the base (citation) form, and (ii) for categorization , i.e., determining
the morphosyntactic properties. They also include syntactic-semantic parsing
for establishing the semantic relations of structure as listed in 7.6.4 and 7.6.5.
The relations between concepts found in a corpus may be embedded into
a Word Bank already running with episodic content and world knowledge.
This is possible because a Word Bank may be multidimensional (6.3.2) in
that a given owner proplet may provide access to several token lines: their
proplets must share the core value, but may otherwise serve different aspects.
The Corpus Word Bank supports the agent's current speech production and
interpretation.
The following example is restricted to the corpus aspect, and shows only the
token lines for the owner record decide and its noun objects.
