5. Attach your screen and plywood walls as desired. A broody hen wants to feel protected and
private, so we built three plywood walls and only kept a screened wall on the side with the
door.
6. After all braces and screening are attached, screw or nail the 4' piece of sheet metal to the
top. Be sure to leave a 2" hangover on both ends of cage to allow water to shed properly.
Enclose back of cage with plywood to protect from weather. We use a tarp during heavy
spring storms to cover the screened wall.
Goat or Sheep Pen
A four-sided shelter with an open doorway, this goat or sheep pen provides a warm, dry area for
your livestock but is simple enough to build in a single afternoon. Note: You can use plywood
instead of tin, but tin will not need waterproofing treatment.
Supplies:
5 sheets of tin per side (will need to cut to fit without hanging over)
5 sheets of tin for top
9 posts cut at 10' long
15 10' 2×4s
1 box of 16 penny nails or screws of same length (your preference)
8 10' 1×4s
