In-Depth Information
It can take a few weeks or it can take a few months, but you'll know the wine has finished ferment-
ing when the liquid turns clear. At this point it's ready to bottle and store. Be sure the bottles are
completely cleaned and sanitized before bottling. You can bottle in bulk in a large container, which
keeps the wine more stable. Or you can bottle in individual bottles and corks. Either way, supplies
are available through a winery supply store. You should always purchase new corks for your wine to
avoid contaminating the new wine you've created.
Store your wine in a cool, dark location to preserve the best flavor. A root cellar is perfect, and
there's a reason why wine cellars, and not wine attics, were the norm.
