LAND
Border Crossings
See Click here for more detail on the region's border crossings. In addition to those de-
tailed in this topic, Northern Thailand also shares borders with Myanmar (Burma) at Mae
Sai, in Chiang Rai Province, and Mae Sot, in Tak Province.
Cambodia Cambodian tourist visas are available at most borders for US$20, though some
borders charge 1500B. Bring a passport photo and ignore the runner boys who claim that
you'll need a health certificate or other medical paperwork for additional fees.
Laos It is fairly hassle-free to cross into Laos from crossings in northern Thailand and
northeastern Thailand. Lao visas (US$35 to US$50) can be obtained on arrival at most
borders and applications require a passport photo.
