ACCOMMODATION
Thailand offers a wide variety of good-value accommodation. The budget range runs from
around 200B for basic rooms (shared bathrooms and fan cooled), while for 400B you'll get
air-con and private bathroom. In Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the midrange begins at about
1000B and has become more stylish and interesting these days. In the rest of the country
you'll start getting midrange quality at around 600B but the hotels tend to be old and
poorly maintained. Top-end in small towns starts above 1500B and in Bangkok above
3000B. Prices listed in this chapter are high-season rates.
A two-tiered pricing system has been used to determine the accommodation price ranges
(budget, midrange, top end).
