Flower Festival
( early Feb) This agricultural celebration is held over a three-day period and includes dis-
plays of flower arrangements, cultural performances and beauty pageants.

( mid-Apr) The traditional Thai New Year is celebrated in Chiang Mai with boozy enthu-
siasm. It is virtually impossible to stay dry during the five days of this festival.
NEW YEAR
Loi Krathong
( Oct/Nov) Northern Thais call this festival Yi Peng, and celebrate by launching illumin-
ated lanterns into the night sky.
