heading to Ubon Ratchathani (263B, 4½ hours, hourly), Surin (80B, two hours, every 30
minutes), Nakhon Ratchasima (Khorat; 75B to 95B, two hours, hourly), Pak Chong
(122B, 2½ hours, hourly) or Bangkok (231B to 275B, five hours, hourly) have the option
of getting off at Ban Tako, a well-marked turn-off about 14km east of Nang Rong and
waiting for one of the buses or sŏrngtă aou from Nang Rong, or just taking a motorcycle
taxi (300B return) all the way to Phanom Rung.
To get to the historical park from Nang Rong, hop on a so ̆ rngta ̆ aou (25B, 30 minutes,
every 30 minutes) that leaves from the old market at the east end of town and goes to Ban
Ta Pek, where motorcycle taxi drivers charge 200B to Phanom Rung including waiting
time.
Motorcycle-taxi drivers will add Prasat Muang Tam onto Phanom Rung for about
150B.
