Sleeping & Eating
You'll find most of the guesthouses on the town's main strip. There's not much choice
eating-wise; apart from the simple Laotian and Western dishes in the cafes, there's a
clutch of fĕr shops selling tasty fare.

creaky wooden building has a certain charm, even if the rattan-walled, squat-loo rooms
are uninspiring. The restaurant downstairs (meals 10,000K to 25,000K) serves Thai, Lao-
tian and Western dishes.

shower spaces. All rooms have comfortable beds, mosquito nets, fans and small veran-

There is also a small restaurant here.

There's a Lao Development Bank ( 8am-noon & 2-3.30pm Mon-Fri) , which changes cash but
has no ATM, a post office ( 8am-4pm Mon-Fri) and a lacklustre tourist office ( 8am-4pm
Mon-Fri) .
Getting There & Around
From the bus station in the northwest corner of town, sŏrngtăaou depart for Muang Long
(40,000K, 1½ hours) at 8am, 11am and 1.30pm. To Luang Namtha (50,000K, two hours,
58km) minibuses leave at 8am, 9am, 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3pm.
