In-Depth Information
Guesthouses and travel agencies can arrange a car and driver from US$25 to US$60 a day,
depending on the destination.
SHARE TAXI, PICK-UP & MINIBUS
Share taxis, pick-ups and local minibuses leave Phnom Penh for destinations all over the
country. Taxis to Kampot, Kep and Takeo leave from
Psar Dang Kor
(Mao Tse Toung Blvd)
,
while packed local minibuses and share taxis for most other places leave from the northw-
est corner of Psar Thmei.
Local minibuses and pick-ups aren't much fun and are best avoided when there are lar-
ger air-con buses or faster share taxis available, which is pretty much everywhere.
However, they will save you a buck or two if you're pinching pennies.
Getting Around

remorque

moto
for half that

a taxi/
remorque
/
moto
will cost about US$10/4/2. The journey usually takes around 30
minutes.
If you arrive by bus, chances are you'll be dropped off near Psar Thmei (aka Central
Market), a short ride from most hotels and guesthouses. Figure on US$0.50 to US$1 for a
moto
, and US$2 to US$3 for a
remorque
. Prices are about the same from the tourist boat
dock on Sisowath Quay, where arriving boats from Vietnam and Siem Reap incite
moto
-
madness.
BICYCLE
Simple bicycles can be hired from some guesthouses and hotels from US$1 a day, or con-
tact Vicious Cycle (
