» Newspapers The main daily newspaper are the Sydney Morning Herald (for serious news) and the Daily
Telegraph (sports and rabble-rousing).
» TV Sydney has six free-to-air TV channels. ABC and SBS offer more worthy fare, while Seven, Nine and Ten
are the main commercial channels. TVS is the free community-run channel.
» Smoking Smoking is not permitted indoors in public places (including offices, shops, bars, restaurants, cafes,
hospitals) and new laws will ban smoking in playgrounds, public sports grounds, transport stops, entrances to
public buildings and outdoor dining areas.

transport $190/245/339) Offers admission to a plethora of Sydney attractions, including sight-
seeing tours, harbour cruises, museums, historic buildings and wildlife parks. It's reason-
ably pricy, so assess how many of these attractions you think you'll actually visit in the
timeframe given before purchasing. The 'with transport' option includes a MyMulti pub-
lic transport pass.
Ticket Through Time ( 02-8239 2211; www.hht.net.au/visiting/ticket_through_time ; adult/concession
& child $30/15) Provides entry for a three-month period to the 11 Sydney museums of the
Historic Houses Trust. Can be purchased online or at any HHT property.
