AUDLEY BOAT SHED
( 9545 4967; www.audleyboatshed.com ; 6 Farnell Ave) At this historic boat shed you can hire row-
boats, canoes and kayaks (per hour/day $20/45) for a paddle up Kangaroo Creek or the
Hacking River. They also rent aqua bikes (per half-hour $15) and mountain bikes (per
hour/day $16/34).
KAYAKING, CYCLING
COASTAL WALKING TRAIL
This spectacular two-day, 28km coastal walking trail connects various beaches which don't
have road access. It can be easily broken into bite-sized sections: for instance, heading
south from Garie Beach you'll reach the North Era , South Era and Burning Palms surf
beaches. Take special care at Marley Beach , between Bundeena and Wattamolla.
HIKING
LADY CARRINGTON DRIVE
Now closed to motor vehicles, this historic carriageway follows the Hacking River south
from Audley, through rainforest and past two picnic areas. This is one of many walks and
cycling tracks in the park, leading to waterfalls, tranquil freshwater swimming holes and
picnic spots; enquire at the park visitors centre for other tracks. Note: it's not safe to swim
in the Hacking River but you can swim in the upper reaches of Kangaroo Creek.

WAVES SURF SCHOOL
( 1800 616 667; www.wavessurfschool.com.au ) This crew will pick you up from the city and
whisk you to Royal National Park for a day of surfing lessons and a barbecue lunch ($89).
They also lead longer 'surfaris', heading as far north as Byron Bay.

SLEEPING IN ROYAL NATIONAL PARK
Since bushfires destroyed the Garie Beach YHA in 2010, camping is the only option within the park. Bookings
are essential; call 9542 0683.
» Bonnie Vale Camping Ground (Sea Breeze Lane; adult/child $14/7) This 74-space drive-in site on Port Hack-
ing near Bundeena is equipped with toilets, drinking water, hot showers, gas barbecues and picnic tables.
» North Era Camping Ground (adult/child $5/3) A walk-in, 12-site campground on the coastal track south of
Garie Beach with only drop toilets provided. You'll need to bring drinking water and everything else. Wood fires
are forbidden.
