Getting Around
If you're here for a week, a MyMulti1 pass will get you most places you'd want to go on
trains, ferries, buses and trams. Otherwise buy off-peak return tickets.
» Train Generally the best way to get around, with reliable and reasonably frequent cent-
ral services.
» Bus Buses will get you to all the places that trains don't go, such as Bondi and the
Eastern Beaches, Vaucluse and Balmoral Beach.
» Light Rail Connects Central station, Pyrmont and Glebe, but nowhere else you're likely
to go.
» Ferries An excellent way to see the harbour and the best option for getting from the city
to Manly, Watsons Bay, Taronga Zoo and Balmain.

Sleeping
Sydney is not a cheap city to stay in, and the strong Australian dollar provides no relief
for international visitors. This is particularly true for midrange travellers; even many of
the hostels charge over $100 for a private room with its own bathroom.
You're best to book well in advance, both to secure your top choice of accommodation
and to take advantage of cheaper rates. Weekends are usually busier than weekdays, al-
though the reverse can be true for some of the most business-focused places.
