In-Depth Information
East of the showgrounds, the arresting Brickpit Ring Walk (Australia Ave; sunrise-sunset) is a brightly
coloured circular walkway supported 18m above an abandoned brickworks on what looks like metal chopsticks.
Three billion bricks were made here between 1911 and 1988. Built into the loop are multimedia exhibits about
the brick workers and their amphibious replacements, including the endangered green and golden bell frog.

( 8571 9111; www.performancespace.com.au ; 245 Wilson St; 10am-6pm; Redfern) Built between
1880 and 1889, this intriguing group of huge Victorian-era workshops was part of the
Eveleigh Railyards. The rail workers chugged out in 1988 and in 2007 the artists pranced
in. It's now home to various avant-garde arts and performance projects, and there's usu-
ally something interesting to check out.
