popular on weekends for its yum cha (over 100 kinds), this massive Chinese restaurant

The fish tank at this frenetic Cantonese place forms a window -wall to the street, full of a
whole lot of nervous fish, crabs, lobsters and abalone. Splash out on the whole lobster
cooked in ginger and shallots: tank-net-kitchen-you.

( 9281 3388; www.marigold.com.au ; L5, 683 George St; yum cha $15-25, banquet $30-48; 10am-3pm &
5.30pm-midnight; Central) This vast yum cha palace has more mirrors, crimson and gold
than seems plausible. Spread over two levels (800 seats!), it's a constant whirl of trolley
dollies in silk dresses and waiters in bowties delivering dumplings, steamed pork buns,
chicken feet and all the other usual suspects. Kitsch in the best possible way. Expect to
queue on weekends.
