in now before it closes again! The Ferris Wheel, the Rotor and the Flying Saucer offer
varying degrees of nerve-rack and nausea. You can pay as you go, or buy a height-based

( Kirribilli) The Sydney residences of Australia's governor-general and prime minister are
located on Kirribilli Point, east of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. When they're in town, the
PM gets some shut-eye in the Gothic Revival-style Kirribilli House OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE
MAP , built in 1854, while the GG bunkers down in Admiralty House OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE
MAP , built in 1846, which is nearer the bridge and is the one everyone dreams of living in
(if it came without the job).
POINT
Both houses are better spotted from the water than by peering through the lightly forti-
fied gates (they ain't the White House).
Squeezed between the Harbour Bridge and the politicians, the diminutive Dr Mary
Booth Reserve Foreshore Walkway OFFLINE MAP GOOGLE MAP (
Milsons Point) offers great
views of the Opera House and the city skyline.

MUSEUM, CHURCH

( 8912 4878; www.marymackillopplace.org.au ; 7 Mount St; adult/child/family $8/5/21; 10am-4pm;
North Sydney) This hushed museum tells the life story of St Mary of the Cross (aka Mary
MacKillop), Australia's only Catholic saint, a dedicated and outspoken educator and pion-
eer who prevailed over conservative hierarchical ideals despite being excommunicated for
six months. You'll find St Mary's tomb inside the chapel.
The museum has interesting interactive displays and a kookily whimsical Nuns on the
Run automaton, proving that the Josephites (the order that MacKillop founded) have a
sense of humour.
