The Neil Perry empire now stretches to seven acclaimed restaurants in three cities,
but it was here, in the dying days of the 1980s, that it all began. After two decades the ori-
ginal Rockpool's creations still manage to wow the critics - expect crafty, contemporary
cuisine with Asian influences, faultless service and an alluring wine list.

oeuvrers at Sailors' long communal table and order from the fragrant menu of Thai street-

Compact, classy and never snooty, Firefly's outdoor candlelit tables fill with
pretheatre patrons having a quick meal before the show (Sydney Theatre is across the
road). Come after 8pm when the audience has taken its seats, and tuck into some grilled
haloumi, piquillo pepper croquettes and fine wine. Great cocktails, too.
