future, major changes to the software development kits are expected, offering new
capabilities and facilities to deploy new applications with less effort and better
integration with the social networks.
11.4.3 Services Anatomy
Mobile phones are the best way to interact with different services maintaining
mobility. Over the last few years, such services have been notably incremented.
Voice service (calls) and text messages (SMS) are still the basic services provided
by mobile phones, but these services are now complemented with other services
including voice mailbox, call conference, and video conference (Fig. 11.2 ).
Current mobile phones offer users numerous services (see Fig. 11.3 ) that can be
classified under several groups:
l Voice (voice services, voice mailbox, and call diverting)
l Text Messages (short text messages and multimedia messages)
l Leisure (games, internet, and multimedia)
l Media (newspapers, television, and videos)
