loop pad “loop” is not built into the floor,
wall, or ceiling, it is portable and can be
taken for use elsewhere.
Another short-range solution involves
situations where a person needs to hear
a bank teller or cashier. Here, a private,
one-on-one induction loop is needed
rather than a public induction loop. There
are a few products that would serve this
purpose and are designed to create short-
range, countertop-style “hotspots” for the
customer. Figure 7-11 shows two prod-
ucts that are portable, if they ever need to
be moved to another location or used in
a private consultation. Figure 7-12 shows
another product that has more perma-
nence but functions just like a countertop,
portable system. A separate microphone
is required (unless one is already built in
to the device).
