In-Depth Information
ATVO
(Azienda Trasporti Veneto Orientale; 041 520 55 30) Operates buses from Piazzale Roma to destinations all
over the eastern Veneto, including airport connections.
Car & Motorcycle
To get to Venice by car or motorcycle, take the often congested Trieste-Turin A4, which passes through Mestre. From
Mestre, take the 'Venezia' exit. Once over Ponte della Libertà from Mestre, cars must be left at the car park at Piazzale
Roma or Tronchetto. Car ferry 17 also transports vehicles from Tronchetto to the Lido.
If you are determined to drive, be warned: visitors who drive across the bridge into Venice pay a hefty price in park-
ing fees, and traffic backs up at weekends.
Getting from Tronchetto to Piazzale Roma
If you park on Tronchetto, the new monorail known as the People Mover will whisk you from Tronchetto to Piazzale
Roma. For onward travel from Piazzale Roma

Parking
You'll find car parks in Piazzale Roma or on Isola del Tronchetto. Prices in Venice start at €21 per day. At peak times,
lots become completely full. However, you can book a parking place ahead of time at
www.veniceconnected.com
.
To avoid these hassles (and to make the most of the cheaper car parks) consider parking in Mestre, and take the bus or
train into Venice instead. Remember to take anything that looks even remotely valuable out of your car, since thieves
prowl local car parks.
