generations, Al Campanile is one of Vicenza's historic watering holes, featuring an antique
wooden bar and tucked beneath the Roman belltower by the cathedral. As you'd expect
from local experts, their cellar is stocked with unusual vintages such as the sparkling
Durelio, which is usually overshadowed by its more famous cousin, prosecco .

row alley off Piazza dei Signori, Fiaschetteria Da Renzo is Vicenza's most popular aperit-
ivo spot. In the morning and early evening customers drop by for a spritz and one of Fa-
bio's famous tartines - open-faced sandwiches filled with egg, anchovies, shrimps, crab,
tuna and, sometimes, truffles or even caviar. They cost a shocking €1.

this marble-topped bar, serving bracing espresso and pastries made on the premises. There
are also tempting jars of sweets stashed on the elaborately gilded shelves. A few outdoor
tables offer views of one of Italy's finest piazzas.

of wines has been in business since 1200, when Malvasia wine was imported from Greece
by Venetian merchants. Its menu covers 80 wines, including prime Italian Malvasia, plus
