LIDO DI JESOLO
This strand of sand a couple of kilometres away from Jesolo is far and away Venetians' preferred beach, with
fine, clean sand, warm, calm waters and beach nightclubs. The most memorable entertainment options are often
spontaneous - so in July and August keep an eye out for flyers offering free admission to clubs (a €5 to €20
value) and announcements of free beach concerts often featuring international acts.
With open cabanas on a raised platform, dance scenes on the sand and occasional DJ duels, Terrazzamare (
0421 37 00 12; www.terrazzamare.com ; Vicolo Faro 1; admission €15; 6pm-4am Tue-Sat Apr-Jun,
nightly Jul-Sep) earns its 'theatre-bar' fame and is populated by bronzed regulars in enormous sunglasses. Inland
from Jesolo, an army of DJs spins mostly house music at one of the hippest summer dance locales, Il Muretto (
393 410 11 20; www.ilmuretto.net ; Via Roma Destra 120d; admission from €20; 11pm-5am Wed & Fri-
Sun Mar-Sep) , although you'll need a car or taxi to get here. While clubbers at Muretto watch dawn arrive
through the retractable roof, hook-ups head down the road to Marina Club ( 0421 37 06 45;
www.marinaclubjesolo.com ; Via Roma Destra 120b, Lido di Jesolo; admission free;
8pm-4am Apr-Sep) F ,
where breezy gazebos, candles and weekend DJs set the mood for private convos.
Getting to Jesolo takes about an hour by car, and can be reached by public transport: take ATVO bus 10a
(€3.80, 70 minutes) from Piazzale Roma. The problem is getting back - the last bus usually leaves at 11.20pm in
summer, and taxis cost upwards of €80. If you can make it to Punta Sabbioni at the tip of the peninsula, you
might be able to catch the LN late-night vaporetto back to Venice. For more information, try the Palazzo del Tur-
ismo (
041 37 06 01; www.jesolo.it ) in Jesolo.
