Utilising traditional Murano techniques and materials, including oxides
and resins, Sabina Melinato conjures up contemporary glass and costume jewellery. Her
deco-inspired glass pendants are so highly polished they look like lacquerwork - just what
you'd expect from a teacher at Murano's International School of Glass.

luxe cashmere pashminas, merino scarves, silk ties and leather goods all hail from Lom-
bardy, the colours and styles in Adelia's shop are pure Venice. Check out the suede belts
in teal and fuchsia, which mirror the colour of the canals and the outrageous Venetian sun-
sets. Barbieri supplies brands such as Moschino, Pollini and Iceberg, but you can buy non-
branded products here at nearly half the price.

If you're
looking for something distinctively Venetian join the bargain-hunters in Valter Ballarin's
Aladdin's cave. An old-fashioned dealer and artisan restorer, Valter has a knack for track-
ing down period furnishings, hand-painted glassware, prints, books, toys and lamps. The
best souvenir, though, is a handful of colourful, hand-blown glass flowers from dis-
membered Murano chandeliers.

Woven, sculpted and crested like lagoon birds, Zanella's shoes practically demand that
red carpets unfurl before you. The Venetian designer makes shoes custom, so the answer
