Booty
worthy of pirates is displayed in a fishbowl-size window display: a constellation of dia-
monds in star settings on a ring, a tiny enamelled green snake sinking its fangs into a pearl,
and diamond drop earrings that end in enamelled gold skulls. Though they look like heir-
looms, these small wonders were worked on the premises by master jeweller Sigfrido.

Aside
from its sumptuous range of art and design books, the shop of the Querini Stampalia
Foundation offers a highly curated selection of glass, jewelry, household items, silverware
and textiles. Pieces from design greats such as Carlo Scarpa, Carlo Moretti and San
Lorenzo sit beside the work of emerging talents such as Benjamin Hubert's pleated, Plicate
watches and Mad am I? Madam's range of jewelry in rodium, stainless steel and methac-
rylate.

Sleek,
supple belts with brushed-steel buckles, modern satchels, man-bags and knee-high red
boots: Kalimala makes beautiful leather goods in practical, modern styles. Shoes, sandals
and gloves are crafted from vegetable-cured cow hide and dyed in a mix of earthy tones
and vibrant lapis blues. Given the natural tanning and top-flight leather, the prices are re-
markably reasonable, with handmade shoes starting at €100.
