In-Depth Information
( 041 524 23 88; Ponte Sant'Antonio 2329; 10am-11pm Tue-Sun; Ca' d'Oro) Wine-barrel tables
are rough around the edges in this historic coal-hole-in-the-wall bar, and that suits regulars
just fine. Cicheti are basic - salami, cheese, meatballs - but the broad wine selection runs
€2.50 to €3.50 for an ombra of robust Veneto wines. Buy a round and challenge fellow
drinkers to a singalong on that scuffed, warped piano.
ALGIUBAGIÒ
Pretty much any other bar in town can claim a more central location than Algiubagiò MAP GOOGLE MAP (
041 523 60 84; www.algiubagio.net ; Fondamente Nuove 5039; 9am-midnight Wed-Mon; Fonda-
mente Nuove) , which is really only convenient to Murano shoppers and Burano photographers - but for modern
romance, none quite compare. The long indoor bar is a most promising start to date nights, with some 300 wine
options and moody spotlighting under the exposed-beam ceiling. Casual drinks may lead to cosy, candlelit tables
for two and ambitious (if pricey) meals of goose and truffle ravioli.
