For the purpose of conducting a GHGs inventory, the GHG Protocol establishes a series of
steps that includes defining the goals for the inventory, setting the organizational boundaries,
defining the operational boundaries, selecting a base year for the initial inventory, identifying
and calculating the emissions, and reporting the results (Fig. 8.3).
