; Via Maroncelli 12; s €45-55, d €60-90; )
A
stone's throw from the train station, Hotel Ravenna is a safe bet. The bland rooms feature
fading beige and gold decor and unexceptional furniture, but they're large and comfort-
able enough. Parking is free; wi-fi costs €4 per hour.

Ostello Galletti Abbiosi
HOSTEL
€
( 0544 3 13 13;

;
Via Roma 140; r €84-94; )
Corralled in a monu-
mental 18th-century town house, this place is more hotel than hostel. With high-ceilinged,
spacious rooms, a small gym, a courtyard and even its own small chapel, it's an excellent
deal.
Hotel Centrale Byron
( 0544 21 22 25;

;
Via IV Novembre 14; s €55-65, d €90-110; )
Loca-
tions don't get much better than this, especially in the car-free, wonderfully ingratiating
streets of central Ravenna. It's no lie to say you could lob a football from the window of
your clean, modern Centrale Byron room into pivotal (and beautiful) Piazza del Popolo.
Regularly updated and improved, Byron keeps ahead of the game. So what if the great
poet never stayed here?

ers, original 15th-century frescoes and coffered ceilings are set against modern fixtures
