between Grado and Udine (€4.50, 1¼ hours, 12 daily) via Aquileia. Trains to Venice and
Trieste run to the Cervignano-Aquileia-Grado station, in Cervignano, around 15km away.

reserve protects a 1920s fish-farming area and extraordinary birdlife in the east of the la-
goon. More than 230 bird species have been observed, including the greylag goose and
many wading birds.
